Colchicine and Macrolides: How Drug Interactions Increase Toxicity Risk
Colchicine and macrolide antibiotics like clarithromycin can cause deadly toxicity when taken together due to dual inhibition of CYP3A4 and P-gp. Azithromycin is the safest alternative. This interaction kills - and it’s preventable.
